Yonge street beckons

‘Agateway to Richmond Hill,” is how developer Maurice Wager, president of Collecdev, calls Westwood Gardens, a new condominium development in the north-of-Toronto locale. With a Yonge Street address, close to the Westwood Lane intersection, the two-tower site offers central access to all the car-oriented attributes the local community has to offer, including the amenities of Highway 7, the Richmond Hill GO Station, Hillcrest Mall and Highways 407 and 404 — all just short drives away. But as condominium development increases and the town attracts urban amenities in its own right, walkability is more of a factor than ever for new residents coming into the traditionally suburban location. “I think it really speaks to the progression in which we are in, with regards to the way families are living today,” Wager says.

25 Steps: “There’s a park that we’re going to be building together with the Town of Richmond Hill,” Wager says, which means about an acre of green space will be located right outside the Westwood Gardens doors. A connection to Yonge Street will make it easily accessible to non-residents as well, creating a local gathering place.

100 Steps: Whether you’re in Toronto or Richmond Hill, Yonge Street is a central destination, often with easy access to popular amenities. And this strip of Yonge is no different, offering a quick walk to dining and drink alternatives. Go for Italian at Il Fornello, or check out the neighbourhood hotspot Abruzzo Pizza. Suites at Westwood Gardens range from 480 to 1,500 square feet, and are priced from $288,990 to $1 million. Call 647- 660- 8868 or visit westwoodgardens.ca.
