Earlier this month, 38 Monte Kwinter Court marked a significant milestone with the opening of the Macaulay Tippett Child Care Centre, a vibrant and inspiring space that will provide high-quality daycare and early learning programming for the littlest neighbourhood residents.

Located on the ground floor of the newly completed 14-storey residential condominium community, the new child care centre at Monte Kwinter serves 49 children and families, ranging from newborns to toddlers up to 4 years old. The facility spans over 9,000 square feet and includes indoor playrooms with large windows that welcome abundant natural light, and a “naturalized” playground that features hardscape, rubber surfacing, sand and water play areas, and a tricycle track. The underlying pedagogy of naturalized spaces fosters exploration and encourages children to use their imagination to engage with the natural landscape. They promote curiosity and freethinking. They also aid in the development of motor skills by giving kids the opportunity to experience various textures and sounds, while engaging all of their senses. In short, it’s a future-forward approach to early childhood development that aligns perfectly with our own values at Collecdev.

The Macaulay Tippett Child Care Centre represents a collaborative effort between Collecdev (responsible for the development of the community), the City of Toronto (who own the childcare facility) and Macaulay Centres for Children (who are leasing the space from the City). Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor James Pasternak (York Centre) were both present for the inauguration, as well as Trevor McAlmont, CEO of Macaulay Centres.  Both Collecdev and Metropia were in attendance as well, celebrating this new milestone.

This centre provides care at a reduced fee for all families through the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) funding program and has a service agreement to provide care for families receiving a child care fee subsidy through the City.
